Block Print Quilts & Comforters

Handmade in Sanganer, Jaipur, India

Printed by hand, one wooden block at a time

Artisan printers in Sanganer, just outside Jaipur, press hand-carved teakwood blocks onto the cotton one impression at a time, with a separate block for every color, each lined up by eye. Sanganeri hand block printing is a protected craft with Geographical Indication status in India. Small variations in the pattern are the mark of a human hand, not a flaw.

Our block print quilts and comforters are printed by hand in Sanganer, near Jaipur, where artisans stamp each colour onto the cloth with carved wooden blocks. Each one is a cotton quilted comforter: a soft cotton muslin cover stitched through a 100% cotton fill, light enough to use most of the year.

Queen and king sizes

Queen: 90 x 108 in (229 x 274 cm). King: 108 x 108 in (274 x 274 cm). Both hang generously over the sides of the bed, so they work as a block print bedspread as well as a comforter.

Printed by hand, one block at a time

Every pattern is stamped by hand with azo-free colours. Small shifts in colour and alignment are part of the craft, so no two quilts are exactly alike.
