OUR STORY

House of Avana began in 2016 as Avana Africa, a partnership with Côte d'Ivoire's Ministry of Crafts to bring contemporary Ivorian sculpture to international buyers. In 2017 we showed that work at ICFF in New York, and founder Vandana Sharad was interviewed by Business World and Vanichi about building a market for traditional crafts.

That idea still shapes what we do: take traditional skills and make them part of everyday modern homes. Today our artisan collections come mostly from India. Sanganer block printers make our quilted comforters, bedsheet sets and 13-piece table linen sets. Moradabad workshops make our trays, baskets and serveware.

Around those collections we curate sculptures, vases, mirrors, lighting and bath accessories from manufacturing partners in China, chosen to sit well alongside handmade pieces. Our African-inspired sculpture collection keeps a link to Côte d'Ivoire, where House of Avana began.
