OUR STORY

House of Avana is a social enterprise dedicated to promoting contemporary artisanal handmade products from around the world while preserving traditional cultural heritage in today’s globalized context. By integrating “signature accent designs” that honor global cultural traditions, the company enhances modern interiors with unique artisanal creations. Their approach involves contemporizing traditional crafts by applying durable, modern finishes and transforming them into practical, everyday objects. This bridges the gap between heritage and contemporary living, aiming to secure wider acceptance and appreciation of traditional craftsmanship.

Recognizing the artisan sector as the world’s second-largest employer after agriculture, House of Avana focuses on empowering this community, especially in developing regions. The enterprise believes that artisanal businesses, when marketed sustainably, can achieve strong economic viability. Their vision is to fully integrate artisans into global commerce, ensuring that increased revenues benefit these communities and provide much-needed economic opportunities.

To support artisans, House of Avana works to expand global market access, thereby increasing income and encouraging the continuous transmission of artisanal skills across generations. They provide artisans with modern machinery and digital training, enabling them to leverage the internet and social media to raise awareness and reach wider audiences.

Initially collaborating with about 80 sculptors and artists across West Africa, House of Avana has since extended its reach to other countries and cultures. Their mission centers on creating a global marketplace for authentic contemporary African craftsmanship, emphasizing the importance of preserving and evolving traditional arts. Ultimately, House of Avana strives to harmonize the past with the present, paving the way for a future where traditional crafts remain vibrant and economically sustainable.
