DESCRIPTION

Most dish brushes are plastic, handle and bristles both, which makes them hard to recycle and means they linger in landfills and waterways for hundreds of years, shedding microplastics as they slowly break down. This modular brush is built to do the opposite.

The handle and bristles are plant-based, so when the head wears out you simply unscrew it, compost it, and twist on a fresh one while keeping the same handle for the long haul. The same screw-on head fits our Modular Dish Brush too, and it comes in two bristle textures. Want a few on hand? Take a look at our bulk options.

Features

Modular Palm Pot Scrub Brush with the head separated from the handle

  • Wood handle and plant-fiber bristles, plant-based and biodegradable
  • Modular design: unscrew the worn head and twist on a fresh one, keep the handle
  • Two bristle textures, regular-duty or heavy-duty (or pick up the handle on its own)
  • Lifespan of 3 to 6 months, the same as a plastic brush
  • When the bristles soften, retire it to a household scrubber for tubs, sinks, boots, and more

How to Use

Use it to scrub pots, pans, and dishes at the sink. When the bristles wear down, unscrew the head, drop it in the compost, and twist on a replacement, no tools needed. Choose regular bristles for everyday dishes or heavy-duty bristles for tougher jobs, or grab the handle on its own if you already have heads.

Care & Cleaning

Store the brush somewhere dry with good air circulation, and separate the head from the handle so both can dry between uses. If you spot any buildup, wipe it with diluted vinegar or mild soap and leave it to dry in the sun or near airflow.

Materials

A wooden handle with plant-fiber bristles. No plastic, so the whole brush is biodegradable.

Dimensions

3.5" tall x 2" round.

A Note on Mold and Returning to the Earth

Our modular brushes are made from natural materials like bamboo and plant fiber, which means they will return to the earth one day. That is the whole point of zero waste, and we think it is pretty cool.

After a few months in a cozy, humid kitchen, bamboo can sometimes grow a little mold, usually right where the head meets the handle. Do not worry. Mold is just the start of that return-to-earth process. Unlike plastic, these brushes are not built to last forever, and a bit of mold is a sign the head is nearing the end of its useful life. Keep the handle going with a fresh screw-on head, and send the spent one to the compost.
